Santa Cruz Animal Health has an immediate opening for a full time non-sterile compounding Pharmacist, registered and licensed in California. The successful candidate will be working at our well-established and rapidly expanding retail location in sunny and beautiful Paso Robles, Ca. Our Paso Robles office is located in Central California Coast wine country approximately 3.5 hours north of Los Angeles and 3.5 hours south of San Francisco. The ideal candidate will have 0-5 years working experience in a pharmacy and an interest in animals. This is a Monday – Friday, 40 hrs/week position and must be available to take calls on Saturdays in case of emergencies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following but are not limited to:Interact with customers over the phone and in person.
Receive, review and interpret veterinarian's prescription for local walk-in orders and phone Rx orders shipping across approx. 48 US states.
Dispense prescription to animals in accordance with policy and in conformance with regulations and laws, counsel animal owners on medication, and maintain accurate and up to date profile.
Supervise and manage support personnel and ensures that the quality of the professional services is maintained, cleanliness of the pharmacy and assist with all staffing and scheduling of team member.
Review, update and adhere to company Standard Operating Procedures.
Keep up-to-date with pharmacy laws and regulations and ensure compliance.
Requirements:Licensed as a pharmacist by the state of California.
Passing score on both the NAPLEX and MPJE.
Willing to be a licensed Pharmacist in other states.
One year retail pharmacy experience a plus.
Working knowledge of computer and documentation systems.
Animal health background a plus.

Education and Experience:Position requires a BA or BS degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field, and an excellent academic record and laboratory experience. Strong background in Chemistry required with a minimum of a C or better in Organic Chemistry. Excellent communication and organizational skills required. Strong computer skills and attention to detail are required. Database and Macintosh experience a plus.
